IN THE LAND OF DETTOLIA: Dettol Pomegranate Luxury Product Launch

“Once upon a time in the mythical land of Dettolia lived a beautiful Queen whose skin was as soft as velvet and smooth as chocolate. Despite her sweet personality, the Queen ruled her Kingdom with confidence and courage. The Queen’s land – Detollia was known for its most cherished treasure that provided astonishing skin care results. It’s key ingredient was pomegranate.”

This was the night where the royalties walked into the gardens of Dettolia. The night where each royal highness would unearth the queen’s treasure.

Sit back and wait for us to unfold the Dettol Launch royal experience for you.

Dettol Kenya are no amateurs when it comes to celebrating and honoring women and this time it just wasn’t an event, it was an experience. It was a moment where women could channel their inner queen as Dettol revealed its latest product just for the ladies – Dettol Even Tone. The women had the opportunity to learn about the origin of the soap and its relation to the support and celebration of women.

It all started from the event invites which consisted of little boxes of chocolates with messages on them. There were four chocolates each with its own message stating the date, time, venue, dress-code. As the saying goes, “a taste on the lips, forever on the hips”; Dettol were very precise on their use of chocolates because of the impression that it’s a women’s first love. This was the first way in which they showed their attention to detail when capturing the female audience. The thought process put into just the invitation was already a teaser to the exquisite set up of the event. We remember looking at the invitation thinking “we wonder how the event will be if this is just the invite?”. All we could see and all we did see was uniqueness and creativity.

We walked in feeling like we were in paradise, from the decor to the ambiance to the treatment; it honestly gave us that royal welcome. It was a wholesome experience that started from the second you walked in to the second you left. Being an event just for the ladies, you can imagine the feeling of being treated like royalty when the people being at our service were just men; from the photography/videography team to the models to the waiters and the entertainment. It really did put more emphasis on appreciating women by making them feel like royalty.

The royal night began with a cocktail style networking session where we not only got to meet and greet with other influential ladies but to taste a wide selection of delicacies, drink some expensive champagne and take royal inspired pictures by the throne next to Dettol Warriors. They were our soldiers just without the body armor. A set up of other Dettol products was provided for testing, giving us a slight teaser on how else we should spend our cash the next time we walk into a beauty store. The welcome didn’t end there, we had Wireless Entertainment cater for our entertainment through silent disco. What a way to experience your own music but within the surrounding of other people.

Sounds like the perfect welcome right? 🙂

The second part of the night started with all the invited guests having their name called out before they were taken to their seat by the Dettol Warriors. The seating arrangement was pre-set with all the invitees having their name tag on top of the fine dining cutlery and glass plate. Meals were pre-selected, with a choice of starters, main course and dessert. We had the salad for the starter, followed by stuffed chicken mixed with a mushroom sauce for the main part of the meal. The dessert constituted of different selections of macarons, brownies and ice cream. The meal was topped up with several glasses of champagne. We definitely loved how often the waiters kept refilling our glasses. Royalty experience we tell you! As we enjoyed our lavish meals, the beautiful sounds from Steph Kapela were heard through his live performance. We could feel our hearts warming up as he sang beautifully straight from his soul.

There is no product launch event without a background story or an understanding on the history of the product. We were there for one main reason; to learn about the product – Dettol Even Tone and its contribution to giving women that royalty skin care. We learnt of its key ingredient – pomegranate, which is a spherical fruit with a tough golden-orange outer skin and sweet red gelatinous flesh containing many seeds. It is the key infusion in the soap that provides that smooth, soft, silky skin. It was what the mythical Queen of Detollia used for that perfect skin.

The event was a reminder of the aspects of each of us that makes us a queen and the motivation to keep queening and winning in whatever we do. Two awards ‘celebrating our inner queen’ were up for grabs. The first being the “Best Dressed” award which was a celebration of the “queen” who showed through her outfit what her version of a queen really looks like. And the second award was the “Who Owned The Throne” which entailed the lady who showed creativity and fierceness in their picture taken at the throne with the presence of the Dettol warriors.

It wouldn’t be wrong to say that this was the among the most lavish product launch event that we have attended. It has certainly raised the standards for launch events; so much that it felt as if we actually in a royal palace. Great work Dettol Kenya and the lovely Pinky Ghelani for the amazing experience.

Let’s just say that we are already thinking when the next one is.

And thank you for the hampers Dettol, we love them 🙂
