Blue Door is the newest club to open in the city, one that you have to check out if you are a fan of the Nairobi night scene. The club, located at Kenrail Towers in Westlands held an event on July 12 for an official launch, bestowing upon Nairobian’s a new and hip joint to hang out.
We arrived at the event at 6:30 pm, for check in and to verify our invitations to this exclusive event. After checking in, we got to the main entrance, which featured a furor of activity as the friendly Blue Door staff welcomed guests with drinks. We each got a glass of wine, walked in, and enjoyed a short photo session at the Beluga banner. Photo sessions is always a way to our hearts, we definitely stayed there more that we should have. But how else would we make great memories and remember this special occasion?

There was a second entrance on the other end of the premise as well and this one had a long graffiti wall with all sorts of writing. This added a cool and trendy vibe to the place, one that the youthful Nairobian’s such as us, greatly appreciated.
We finally got into the heart of Blue Door where the main event took place. The room projected a tranquil and romantic atmosphere with the low lighting and lovely flowerpots littered all around the room, from the ceiling to the beams and columns. This meshed well with the room design, borrowed from a wine refinery with wooden walls, taps and wine barrels sticking out of walls, and piping running across the ceiling. It felt as if we were just having a drink at a posh winery. The sitting was an array of wooden tables and benches where guests could sit and mingle and we picked a spot right in front of the bar. It was evident that the décor was well thought out and planned, they definitely wanted us to know they are bringing something fresh and new to the Nairobi scene.
As we enjoyed our drinks, the lovely waiters who tended to the guests were meticulous in ensuring that all guests were catered for, ready with a refill when you needed it. We also got well sorted from delicious treats that the waiters generously passed around. These included fish fingers, onion rings, pork belly, chicken, nuts and vegetarian delicacies. Their customer service is nothing short of remarkable, from their lovely faces of the staff to their polite demeanor. They are hands down one the best we have experienced in Nairobi.
For entertainment, the club hosted a talented live band that performed throughout the evening. The music ranged from soft RNB, complementing Blue Door’s romantic ambiance during the first part of the evening. It later transitioned to a fun Reggae set then upped the tempo with high-energy local music, building up the excitement for the night. The voices of the performers left us awe, the instruments being played felt like a serenade ceremony. Yes, It was that great! In between music breaks, we also watched some thrilling dance performances. What a great way to spend a night out. Whenever there’s music or entertainment you know StyleNerds will definitely be there.

The launch officially came to an end at 10:00 pm with a short speech from the club representative and we relocated to another section, the main club area of Blue Door. We got to enjoy more drinks and shots courtesy Beluga Noble Russian Vodka who was the main sponsors of the event. We also enjoyed an entertaining DJ set by DJ Protégé and his brother, The Violinist during the dance hall section. The event ended with the guests mingling and losing the urge to go home. That’s the incredible feeling this new hot spot brings. The Nairobi Club Scene should definitely watch out, BLUE DOOR IS HERE!
