A SAVOURY EXCURSION: Four Points by Sheraton JKIA Food and Beverage Tasting

Tonight, dear sir, my humble house, and I

Do equally desire your company;

Not that we think us worthy such a guest,

But that your worth will dignify our feast…

An endearing excerpt from Ben Jonson’s ‘Inviting a friend to supper’, this prose best describes our invitation to the Four Points by Sheraton hotel at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. On the evening of October 16, we had the pleasure of attending a food and beverage tasting at the hotel’s Tazama rooftop restaurant.

Africa’s leading airport hotel – this is the associated title awarded Four Points by Sheraton at the JKIA. True to this prestigious title, the hotel leads in sophisticated ambiance and overall quality of service. A subsidiary of the Marriott Hotel chain, the JKIA branch is one of the only two in Kenya, with the other located at Hurlingam.

There is no love more sincere than the love for food, so they say. Ours was a delectable kind of love as we got to dine at the Tazama Rooftop Bar and Grill. As the word “Tazama” suggests, the rooftop restaurant boasts of amazing views! Overlooking the Nairobi National Park, the JKIA runway and a gorgeous pool, the views were as satisfying as the food.

 From their extensive menu, we ordered crispy chicken wings as the starter. The wings were tossed with chili and lemon, an absolutely divine choice. For the main course, we had a classic stir-fry dish all the way from South East Asia; basil and sambal stir fry with fried duck. The fries were different but extremely scrumptious in a manner that almost had us going for seconds. However, the highlight of the dish had to be the fried duck!  A rare delicacy, the duck was crispy, spicy and deliciously prepared. It was a while since we last had a taste of duck and we were thoroughly satisfied with our choice. For the refreshments, the inhouse and extremely talented mixologist had try the old-fashioned rivalry and linch black lemonade cocktails. Although a bit watered down, the drinks were lovely as well.

Following the savory experience, we left Four Points by Sheraton JKIA satisfied and sated by the delightful meal as well as the excruciatingly beautiful views. If you need a quaint spot away from the bustle of Nairobi to go for a date or simply chill with a few friends, Four Points by Sheraton at the JKIA is your go to!
