OKTOBAFEST MEDIA LAUNCH: Utopia is Real for Beer Lovers

Utopia (noun)

Dfn: an imagined place or state of things in which everything is perfect.

Guess what? This October, a state of utopia is no longer an imagined scenario but one that becomes real for beer lovers. This comes with the launch of the Tusker Oktoba fest, a month-long extravaganza of culture that hopes to celebrate Kenyan authenticity through electrifying performances, delicious food and the ultimate deal seal, an endless supply of beer.

Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL) brings back the Tusker Oktoba Fest this year after a hiatus in 2020, following the COVID-19 pandemic. The bright afternoon of October 5 had us arrive at the Urban Burgers joint along Koinange Street with other media personalities and influencers such as Media, Kate The Actress, Talia Oyando, among others. The mood was cheerful; as any place would be with free beers going around. After signing in, we took to our places, eager to find out what this year’s Oktoba Fest has in store.

The Tusker Oktoba Fest 2021 is dubbed the biggest nationwide celebration of beer that Kenya has ever seen. EABL’s Head of Marketing Beers, Anne-Joy Michira expressed her delight at the opportunity for Tusker to connect with consumers once more, following last year’s hiatus. This festival is a celebration of exactly what Tusker stands for which is being loudly and proudly Kenyan. Being a national brand and product that is loved and adored by many, it should be celebrated as such,” she said.

Tusker will also be aiming to support Kenyan artists through the festival, noting the impact of the pandemic on the entertainment and creative industry. This year’s festival, which kicked off on Saturday, October 9, will see Tusker reach consumers across Kenya with in-bar experiences taking place in over 70 bars across the country, and performances from over 150 Kenyan artists. Some of the headlining acts such as Matata, Mejja and Kagwe Mungai were at the event as well and fans took the rare opportunity to get some photos for the gram.

“Let no man thirst for good beer…” After the official business was over, we were able to munch on some juicy burgers, courtesy of Urban Burgers, which we downed with delicious cold beers; a little more than one would deem prudent on a Tuesday afternoon. There were prizes to be won for the overzealous beer lovers but for us, the ultimate prize was the opportunity to have our beer glasses refilled at the tap of a finger. We ended the day a little tipsy but exceptionally happy and sated.

To take part in the beer-full festival, you can visit KBL’s e-commerce platform for amazing offers and check out Tusker’s online platforms to find out the shows happening around or near you. Utopia is finally here for us beer lovers, so let us experience it while it lasts. Happy Oktoba Fest!
