Polo is known as the ‘Sport of Kings’ and is often associated with the Royal family and favored by high society.
Courtesy of one of the event sponsors Tusker Malt, Polo fans were treated to 3 glorious weather days full of food, fun and fashion at this year’s Connaught Cup at the Nairobi Polo Club. Oh boy, wasn’t it a treat! It was truly an extension of fashion week with polo luxury as the dress code .

Dressing for polo is not so easy, especially considering the temperature, and the dress code, which is flexible. One rule of thumb though is one should always dress according to the weather because polo is an outdoor sport and just like the UK weather, Nairobi weather has been quite unpredictable lately.
What The Ladies Wore
The ladies were dressed to the nines taking care not to under- or overdress. Sundresses, long chiffon and silk maxis are easy go-tos for a polo outing.

Quite a number of influencers, some of whom are associated with the Tusker Malt brand, were in attendance. Spotted On day two was Geek on Fashion in a blue jeans and mauve blazer casual chic look, Jacky Vike in a mustard ensemble, Coco Vanveen in a short blue flowery wrap dress and last year’s best dressed, June Claire, who came to wow in a black sequin lace suit.

What The Gents Wore
The gents clearly knew what was required. A rule to follow for gents is one can wear anything they would normally wear to the derby, but not a suit they would wear to a wedding.

Spotted at the Connaught Cup was Seth Gor who showed up in blue pants, blue shirt and a crisp white blazer. He classed it up with a crimson tie and pocket square to finish the look.

Others were spotted in smart casual outfits and polo shirts paired with shorts/pants.

Oh yes, the game…. The winners of this year’s Connaught Cup were team Tusker Malt. Kenya is set to face-off with hosts Zambia in the Lusaka International Championships and stylenerdsjournal calendars are marked already as we await to be wowed by fashion at the polos.
