The Camon Series’ previous releases ran so the Camon Pro Mondrian Edition could fly. TECNO has us in a chokehold with the Camon Series and we are not complaining.
We were recently invited to the launch of the latest baby in the Camon Series family: The Mondrian.
The launch was held at Ankole Grill in Kitusuru. It was a lovely evening with perfect temperatures but a fireplace area was all set up just in case temperatures dipped. There’s a lot to unpack about how the launch day but let’s break it up into bite-sized pieces through the eyes of our trusty stylenerdsjournal representative.
The Welcome Area
As you enter Ankole Grill, the wonderful TECNO ladies were stationed at the entrance. There’s nothing as awkward as asking waiters where to find your event. Thank you TECNO! I went up to get my ticket where I got a goodie bag. At this point, I wondered what the ticket was for but the ladies told me to hold on to it, and later I would find out why.
After, I was directed to sign the huge TECNO branded divider signages. I love leaving my mark at such events!
The Make-up Station
Just so you can look the part, TECNO had a makeup station for anyone who wanted a touch-up here, a bit of color there, and for those who came to party-a Mondrian art look. I decided to go for Mondrian art on the lips. It was, after all, a night for The Mondrian.
The Set-Up
I have been to many experiential events and somehow I always know what to expect but TECNO decided to pull one out of the hat and surprise us. This was not your everyday run-of-the-mill phone launch. No. This was a Camon Mondrian launch.
There were four spots; a cute chill spot reminiscent of a foyer, the showcase area where the presentation would happen, the bonfire area that came to life later in the evening, and the dining area that was A+.
The presentation area was branded Camon Pro Mondrian in 3D letters and the windows took on the life of the Mondrian paintings as they had been covered in pastel-colored films. Don’t you just love it when a launch goes the extra mile with the setups? More of such in future please!
The firepit was a buzz of activity later on in the evening with guests getting a chance to experience The Mondrian’s camera ability firsthand. The Mondrian is definitely a phone made with content creators in mind.
The Open Bar
You’re smiling I know. I had on pastel blue so I was not about to get any drink that could stain so white wine it was. They also offered bitings as dinner would be served after the presentation. There were cocktail tables around to allow for small groups to mingle while enjoying refreshments.
The Guest Looks
Quite a number of familiar faces graced the launch including Joy Kendi, Sylvia Njoki, Kagwe Mungai, Sharon Mwangi, Daddie Marto, Nick Mutuma who was the MC for the night, Maureen Waititu, Pascal Tokodi, Grace Ekiripa, and many others. Boy oh boy, everyone was dressed to the nines! It seems dress codes were different but in keeping with the Camon Mondrian pastel colors as some were asked to be in pastel blue, others wore a pastel pink and some pure white.
I spotted some fun looks and some regal ones but everyone really outdid the dress code brief.

If I were to rate the ladies to the gents, the guys took this one. It’s not every day you’ll catch a man all decked out in pastel and as a stylenerdsjournal rep, I 100% endorse this.

The Event
At around 7 pm the launch officially kicked off with Nick Mutuma opening the floor to the TECNO Country Manager to introduce us to The Camon Mondrian. Product Manager Brian Otieno followed, breaking down the features and standouts of the Camon Mondrian to us. To say we were wowed not only by the phone but the price point as well.
As the event rolled out, a raffle was held and Faith who clearly had faith in her ticket won herself a brand new Camon Pro 19 Mondrian Edition. Congratulations to her.
It was an amazing event, to say the least, and we can’t wait for the next launch!
