Last week, Tecno hosted an event to launch the latest in the Camon Series; the Camon Pro 19 Mondrian Edition. We are obsessed with it! Also, because of this phone and the Camon series, we are high-key impressed with Tecno’s dedication to catering to not just tech nerds but also style nerds.

You just have to see the Camon Mondrian to know that style was definitely part of the brief when designing it. It also doesn’t hurt that the Creative Director for the Camon 19 series is Otile Brown. If style was a person, it would definitely be him.
Because of the Camon 19 Pro Mondrian grid pattern abstract art of colored squares and rectangles, it was aptly named after Dutch painter and art theoretician Piet Mondrian whose impressionist art it takes after, stylistically.
Good Design Deserves recognition
And recognition is exactly what the Camon 19 Series got from the iF Design Awards. With the continuous pursuit of up-to-date exterior back-cover design, TECNO collected the iF Design Award for its recently-announced CAMON 19 Pro series smartphones, which were praised by international design experts.
The iF Design Award is a highly influential and world-renowned organization for its “independent, rigorous and reliable” screening standards. These two honors validate TECNO’s capability to combine high-performance, high-value smartphones with stunning designs for young fashionistas.
“TECNO CAMON 19 Pro adopts a borderless design to create a fresh borderless ultra-narrow screen experience for users,” noted the 132-member jury of the iF Awards when looking at the CAMON 19 Pro 0.98mm bezel which is the thinnest in the industry.
Fun Facts: Upon closer inspection during the unboxing, the back cameras have been designed to look like a compass and a pair of binoculars. Also, it wasn’t possible to match Mondrian’s bold colors-red, blue & mustard through the light sensing technology. So, with UV-sensitive pigments, TECNO re-interpreted the colors to the pastel shades of baby blue and pink. Fascinating!

Remember when we first interacted with the Camon Series here at stylenerdsjournal we mentioned not just the Muse Awards won by the Camon Series but also the Museum of Fine Arts? Well, the reason why the Camon Mondrian has the name Mondrian in it is largely thanks to MFA.
One of MFA’s visions is to find new ways to share their art collections with the rest of the world. As such, MFA granted TECNO a promotional license allowing them to use the famous painting by Kate Mondrian on the Camon Mondrian.
“It is clear that TECNO has captured the Mondrian style and fused technology with their own artistic vision. Young people are looking for an emotional attachment to consumer products. They want to purchase something with a story behind it and something they can relate to and I think art conveys that message” says Debra LaKind, the Senior Director of Intellectual Property and Business Development at MFA Boston.
