The Johnnie Walker Marketing Manager, Josephine Katambo called it an unforgettable experience before it even happened and unforgettable is definitely the word. What are we talking about? The Walker Town Concert. It was Nakuru’s turn for some fun, Johnny Walker style, and revellers had a blast! Even the rain couldn’t stop the excitement. This all went down at the Rift Valley Sports Club in Nakuru on 6th May 2023.
Did You Know About Walker Town?
Walker Town is a unique concert designed to provide an unforgettable experience with the bold flavours of Johnnie Walker at the centre of it all.
Launched in 2022, revellers have gotten the chance to experience Walker Town Concerts in several counties in Kenya, including Eldoret, Nairobi, and Meru which was headlined by Nigerian star Ruger.
At the Walker Town events, consumers experience the best entertainment from local and international artists and DJs, the best food experience, and engaging fun activities such as gaming, fashion, and art. They also get to sample and experience the best Johnnie Walker cocktail creations by world-class mixologists, whisky food pairings, and much more.
The Nakuru Walker Town Concert Experience
Johnnie Walker’s lead brand ambassador in Kenya, Nyashinski, was joined by Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Joeboy as headlining acts.

Because no concert is complete without a DJ on the decks, the Nakuru concert had big names on the DJ line-up that definitely kept the fans dancing all through. The line-up included DJ Joe Mfalme, DJ Pierra Makena, and DJ Protégé.

Joeboy performed a 2 hour set in between Okello Max and Nyashinski with Nyashinski stealing the show with his 1 hour 45 minutes set that had everyone singing along. Did you know the two headlining acts had different coloured tents? Joeboy’s was all white while Nyashinski’s was black with gold couches and a crystal gold chandelier. Sema luxury!

Johnnie Walker Management Left Nothing To Chance
This deserves a special mention here on stylenerds because the likely outcome from concerts is usually some chaos ensuing but not at Johnnie Walker events and not at the Nakuru Walker Town concert that we were privileged to be invited to. “Everyone’s safety is our top priority, and we have put in place adequate security measures to ensure that everyone can have a great time without any worries. We urge all attendees to cooperate with the security personnel that will be deployed to ensure the safety of everyone. Come and take bold steps with us at Walker Town, and let’s make unforgettable memories together,” said Johnnie Walker Marketing Manager, Josephine Katambo as they prepped for the concert a few days before.

The Set-up!
We loved the cool set-up that was at the event. Oil drums with event branding as tables and barstools as seats. The main tent was branded ‘Walker Town’ in big bold letters, you couldn’t miss it!
Lifesize Johnny Walker statues, giant Johnny Walker bottle props and photo booths were placed around the area just for the fans. Talk about setting the scene!
There was More…
Yes! Can you believe there was a flavour studio where attendees got free mixologist master classes for lovers of whisky and cocktails? There was also fashion and gaming, and the whole place was set up just like a town would be; complete with different streets that catered to different things. The organisers definitely did top-tier work!
We are in awe of what Johnny Walker Town is achieving with each concert and we are finding ourselves anxiously waiting for the next concert. What a show the Nakuru Johnny Walker Town Concert was! A round of applause for the brand though a toast with a spicy Johnny Walker cocktail would be in keeping with the brand, don’t you think? Where do you think the next edition will be held? Who do you think will be headlining? We wanna know too!
